Over and Over and Over and Over.

Last year, Hot Chip released "Over and Over". Great track. Anyhow, I think it was Diplo's version, "Shake It Over And Over" (containing the original instrumental and vocals of "Bojangles" by Pitbull ) that got most blogged out on the web and got played at most parties.. Almost a half year later, another great remix has been made.. A "breakz" edit. This "breakz" thing is a style I "discovered" last year and some of the breakz-remix genies these days are these fellas.. Aquasky is a project I've been laying my eyes on for 1 year now and they are very capable of creating great ear-blasting "break-boots".. These guys produce under the name Aquasky and their remixes are labeled as "Aqua Ski edits/remixes" anywayz:

Lord Epworth.

If people would ask me about my favourite remixers I probably would mention Kissy Sell Out, Switch, Steve Angello, SebastiAn and Van She Technologic.
All these people produce fantastic remixes.. Some or good, some are just okay..But there's one person that creates remixes that aren't just okay, or just good.. Seriously. I listened to almost all of the remixes created by "Lord" Paul Epworth, and I love them all. All of them.

After paying his dues at London's legendary Air Studios, The Strongroom and Chiswick Reach, Paul Epworth stepped forward as the in-house producer/engineer at the now defunct 93 Feet East Studios, where he honed his craft on his own debut album as main singer and songwriter in Lomax. In between writing and recording he managed to establish himself as the hottest live sound engineer around, mixing the likes of The Kills, Royksopp, The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, Zongamin, Liquid Liquid and The Futureheads, who later gave him his first big production job.Since producing the majority of tracks on The Futureheads debut, Paul has been in the studio with emerging talent such as The Rakes, White Rose Movement and Babyshambles, as well remixing the likes of U2 and Goldfrapp.His most notable album projects are the jaw dropping Bloc Party debut and indie-pop saviours Maximo Park. In order to keep pushing things forward, 2006 sees Paul working with credible urban acts such as Plan B and Kano, and original dance rockers The Rapture. Kiss & Fly was the most played track on my iPod/iTunes in 2006! DAMN the 80's synth in the last 2 minutes makes me wanna jump around like a fool on the street and cry like a child at the same time! I really can't stop listening to it!

Here's a mix Tacteel did of this little surkin masterpiece, and I like it! the synth comes in really early and is dreamy and ooh there's this vocal too :)

Some spam for the next few months...

My calendar is quickly building up here on Jersey, and i'm fucking ecstatic (understatement) to say i'll be supporting the big wizard himself - Erol Alkan, with a warmup set on May 6th!!! No doubt a night like this in Jersey will become legendary, just like his awesome set at Jerseylive! 2006, when he tore the room apart!

Also confirmed for the end of next month is a slot supporting Gucci Soundsystem's 'Riton', alongside Denmark's 'Niklas Harding', with JerseyLive!'s head honcho Warren Le Sueur, and Pandemic's Pete Du Momme. w00t!

Don't forget, this month myself, Pip, Steve & Gaz will be providing room 2 support for the awesome 'Krafty Kuts' on Sat 24th at the splash!!!

Remix like Cinderella..

As some of you might know, Grant McSleazy does a radio show for XFM Scotland.. Some of you mashup-lovers also might know he's the man behind the big gybo-board. What some of you might not know is that he did a great Pixies-remix a few years ago, containing parts of "Where is my mind", "Tame" and "Nimrod's Son"..

The project "Audiotrucs" was founded in the middle of 2006 by Antonio de Spirt and Arno Hennig. Inspired by their marked preference for current Indie Bands, Remix Requests for famous bands and artists like: Rinocerose, B-Phreak, Choreo and General Midi soon followed..The Remix the two guys did of Rinocerose`s "Cubicle" is meanwhile on various playlists, for example by artists like Malente, Le Hammond Inferno, Erol Alkan, etc.

At the moment they are workin´ at two new tracks for Malente and General Midi, which you can listen to at their myspace. Live they are perfectionists at the turntables and if they play together in a club a supernova is happening. handling freaky tunes provides the crowd with an unique experience.

I loved this tune since the first time I heard it and I must admit, it took me some time to get these guys on this blog.. but hey.. it's damn worth it..

Well well well, there isn't a single track that's safe for remixing/editing. So isn't Girls by the Prodigy!! We've made an edit of that track, not to please our mothers no, to please all fans of straightforward tracks who apply only one rule : when a track takes control of your fist and makes it punch around , it's a good track. And to please others who want to experience this heavenly emotion.

We like any form of criticism, good or bad so if you feel like letting us know, don't hold back. (Or do hold back when you say it to Thomas, he's easily upset)

Hermix het!

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden dat ik hier in mijn eigen moerstaal heb gepost, dus het zal geen al te grote verrassing zijn als dat is wat ik nu ga doen.. Zoals vele van jullie waarschijnlijk al weten hebben onze vrienden van Palm Out Sounds elke zondag het geniale remix-sunday.. Het zou een beetje lame zijn om op deze blog ook wekelijks een remix item te hebben dus doen we het nu even eenmalig..

Riot in Belgium kwam vorig jaar met het uber-coole "La Musique".. die sinds kort op vinyl uit is.. Het leuke aan deze plaat is dat er een best coole re-edit op staat door Adam Sky aka Adamski.. trouwens een leuk weetje: Riot in Belgium komt dus helemaal niet uit, zoals je zou denken, Belgie..

Melbourne’s Joel Dickson and Sydney’s Bennie Single DJ and produce music under the moniker Riot In Belgium. They are both well-established DJ’s in Australia; Bennie is part of Sydney’s Bang Gang DJs playing from Australia to China to UK to USA. Joel was one half of electro outfit Cut Copy before Dan turned trendy rock and started the band.

Update.. Half 2 s'nachts en terug van mijn hectische baantje in de horeca.. Gelukkig run ik nog dit huis-tuin en keuken blogje en kan ik hierin nog enigsinds ontspanning en lol in kwijt.

"We are rockstars", een track van vorig jaar heb ik via omwegen terug gevonden in een whitelabel remix door Kissy sell out, die we natuurlijk allemaal kennen van zijn eigen track "Her" en zijn remixen voor o.a: All Saints, M.I.A , Goodbooks , The Black Ghosts en vele anderen.. Ik kan trouwens helaas geen info vinden over hoe en wie er achter DIOYY zitten. En volgens mij is het project zelfst unsigned en zijn er alleen nog maar promo's uitgekomen at this moment sprekend. The Portuguese ninja..

Xinobi is a Portuguese ninja commited to a very important task: set Portugal free of the cliché tribal sounds. In order to achieve such thing, he has put down his mask and ninja gear, changed from ZX Spectrum to laptop, and bought a pair of glasses - can you a imagine a blind ninja or DJ?! Works nine-to-five in doing music everyday. No holidays, sundays or any alikes, and he's totally engaged to machines and vinyl records. He often forgets about meals and other minor necessities such as going to the bathroom, due to his preserverant character. After all, ninjas are trained to be obssessive... better this way: ninjas are trained to be presistent. Like all the superheroes, he's built to get stronger and stronger. Xinobi can be described as a humble character waiting for euro-milions to buy 909 909's and begin to experiment the real deal. We should be bending right now, 'cuz he's just become water, my friend."

Quality from the land down under..

As many of you should know, the Ed Banger crew is currently touring across Australia..
In march, Kavinsky and Sebastian will also do their Australia- thing supported by Ajax from the Bang Gang..

A couple of months ago I posted some of my favourite livesets of 2006 containing a liveset by that same Ajax, Jonathan Wall, Trix and Goodfella.

So I was checking some myspaces today and I came across Goodfella's space and guess what..

What I like most about Trix and Goodfella's sets is their mixing techniques:
It's isn't only the BPM that's right.. Most of the time, the mix is in key too. Anyway, just listen to it and you'll understand what I mean..
