"Groove Is In the Heart" is a funky, cheerful love song that compares the new feelings of infatuation with hearing a good ("groovy") song. Essentially a house music track, it also features elements of disco, funk and early hip-hop. The backing track is built around many samples (one of them from Herbie Hancock's track 'Bring Down The Birds' on Blowup soundtrack) and even includes a slide whistle. Bootsy Collins provided guest vocals and played bass guitar and the rap is provided by Q-Tip, formerly of A Tribe Called Quest.."

3 weeks ago, when I was listening to Annie Mac's show, I heard this great track called "Tony the beat" by the Sounds..
This remix is done by Rex the Dog and is not on the original CDM.. which is a shame though, because it's the best remix of the track IMHO.

Tiga played this song @ I Love Techno 2006 and since then, everyone was after the artist and title of this track..

Well it's made by Federicho Franchi AKA Zenith and comes from the Electro Tales Vol 1 E.P :

Danceur d'ombre

"Shadow Dancer" est un projet de 2 frères: Paul & Al Farrier. Normalement
Paul fait la musique et Al se joint pour "DJing". Jean Michel Jarre et le Commodore 64 étaient leur hantise d'enfance. Comme adolescents, ils ont été présentés au monde plus large d'electronica avec par ex. :
Warp Records, Harthouse, UR, Carl Craig, Global Communication, Rephlex, Dave Clarke. Fatigué du techno ils ont décidé de faire musique ces des années '80 combinées avec le commodore 64, très "old school", mais parce que tout le monde faisait electrotrash, ils ont cessé de le faire. Mais dès que le hype de Ed Banger's, Institubes, boys noize.... ils recommencent à faire d'electroclash avec de grands résultats!!!!!

Leurs chansons sont jouées par Duke Dumont, Simian Mobile Disco, Shir Khan, Boys Noize, Ascii Disko, Zombie Nation, Spooky, Filthy Dukes, Acid Jacks... Leur EP était lancé par "The Other Cosmos"

Saturday 21 October 2006, the Flanders Expo in Gent was turned into Benelux's best house event again.. Great performances by Boys Noize, Tiga , Digitalism, Soulwax and ofcourse, Justice !!
Xavier and Gaspard did a great set and we are glad to have this on video..

Do it again.. and again and again..

Interview with Mr. Williams in Belgian Newspaper "De Standaard ":
I really don't like the Soulwax edit that much.. I really would like to thank them because of the fact they are a great band with Soulwax. But as for the remix, they should thank me. Their edit, "Ravelight", just didn't touch me.. I really like the stuff the Dewaele brothers do with all their projects like 2 Many DJ's and Soulwax.. but really.. I could do 80 percent of the remixes myself..

Well Mr. Williams.. keep those remixes coming! Please send them in!
We can't wait to have 'em on our site.. :-)

By the way.. Blisscotheque from Ireland did a great re-edit/remix on this song.. It got that 90's rave-styled feeling all over the place and adds that little extra to the Soulwax edit..

The Scar!

Last summer when I was on holiday in 'Nieuwpoort', at the Belgian Sea, the weather wasn't what it should be (like most of the time here in Belgium tho) I was prepared for it because I had my laptop with me. I had the luck that I could get onto someones wireless network and steal his/her internet connection and started a search on myspace for some fresh tracks that could let me forget about the bad weather. Suddenly I discovered The Scar, and I immediatly fell in love with his remix of 'I was made for loving you' by kiss! Damn! This song really makes me happy everytime I hear it! I also couldnt get the 'tututu tutu tu tu tu' thing out of my head, so everywhere I went to, I was singing that little melody :) Now that we started with this blog I really wanted to share this great remix with everyone, if I got the blessing of mr Scar himself ofcourse... And I got them ;)

More information about The Scar:

- He was born in Boston, but he grew up in Australia
- He played in several teenage hard rock bands and performed in Schools, Pubs and even Prisons! (including playing AC/DC's "Jailbreak" inside Darwin prison)
- When he visited NY, he ended up staying there for 13 years! He married a foxy NY chick and did guitars and writing for Younglord and Ryan Leslie
- and he just moved to the UK in mid-2006

thanks to Armand Van Helden, he's into dance music, which he hated before!

Wolfmother

I gotta admit, their album has been a stonker, and it sure got me back into my old Zep albums once again (always a good thing!). This however, is a fantastic schaffelbeat stomper by 'loving hand' and is as good if not better, than any of the recent Wolfmother remixes. Nice one Tim!!

Pierre Who ?

Fistfunk, born in Lier is a natural born music addict.
He is creating mashup's since 1997, and is the creative brain behind
"Pierre Stupide", a "Napster-Prank" set up in August, 2000.

He was pretty bored one day so he combined some funky-styled samples in cool-edit.. added some cheesy effects, and shared it at Napster tagged:

"daft punk (new album 2000 promo) - pierre stupide.mp3"

The cool thing about this all was that it got reviewed on several sites, reached some radio stations and was mentioned in a Mixmag-column..
It was even pressed on a b-side of an italian white label, with daft punk's "one more time" on the a-side. Virgin confirmed it was a fake track, but in an interview with NME daft punk commented: "Who says it's fake ? "
